An unusual antique Wedgwood pearlware dish modeled in the form of a fluted scallop shell. The crisp white ground is edged in gilt and decorated with three colorful nautical burgees joined by a petite pink banner.

Both playful and beautifully traditional, the maritime decoration gives this shell-form dish an especially distinctive character. A wonderful piece for a coastal home, bar, library, or collection of antique English ceramics.
